His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (1896–1977), Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), is widely respected as the foremost teacher of Bhakti-yoga to the modern world.
Born as Abhay Charan De in Calcutta, India, Srila Prabhupada was raised in a deeply spiritual Vaishnava family. In 1922 he met his spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, who requested him to spread the teachings of Lord Krishna throughout the English-speaking world.
At the age of seventy, Srila Prabhupada journeyed alone to the United States carrying only a small trunk of books and a mission to share Krishna consciousness. Through his extraordinary dedication, he established ISKCON in 1966 and inspired millions worldwide through his books, teachings, and personal example.
Our Mission
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) was officially established in 1966 by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
ISKCON follows the timeless teachings of Sanatana Dharma as presented in Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam. The movement seeks to help people develop spiritual awareness, cultivate devotion to Lord Krishna, and live a life of compassion, wisdom, and service.
Through spiritual education, congregational chanting, prasadam distribution, cow protection, book distribution, and community outreach, ISKCON strives to bring peace, harmony, and spiritual well-being to society.
